Meet ANDY HALLETT

Actor and singer from Cape Cod, Massachusetts

In His Own Words

I’ve had worked in several songs with my friend John Allen (…). I’ve recorded six songs with John already but we don’t exactly where to go from here.

One place wants to do the album as “Lorne” type of thing, and other thing, does not, and I just don’t know which is the better option.

One would be more recognized as being part of the show Angel, but I’m not sure.

Vegas was my favourite thing ever. That was the best show for me.

Would I do a show like that?. Absolutely.  That was a really great experienceto have that little dream come true.

We were at the Riviera Hotel and we had the real stage floor, where they hold a show called Splash which is a wonderful show. We had the real dancers from the Splash show.

It was awesome to get a chance to work with them because these were twelve Las Vegas show girls with the outfits.

Did you ever see The Wizard of Oz?.  When that Wicked Witch got the water on her, that could have been me. The only difference if Lorne had gotten soaking wet would have been “I’m melting, I’m melting – get me a drink!”

[He laughs]

He (Joss Whedon) said  he wanted me to audition for this part of the karaoke demon, and what did I think? and I was like “Oh my god!” I never thought it would come to this, I thought it would be a couple of times, but I did 51 episodes as a guest cast member, before he asked me to be a regular – “We want you to join the team. What do you think?”. Luckily I can say that I already felt like a team player,  like I already felt like I was part of the family. So, of course, I accepted instantly.

I was asked if I read fan fiction. Which I wasn’t familiar with and someone said: “I think you should check it out”. And they describe a scandolous story about Lorne involved with fan fiction and I won’t five any more details than that, but it was truly scandolous! [Laughs].

Then I went on and checked out some of those sites and they were wild! Just absolutely wild what they talk about on those sites!

If you are telling me that via television set, or in person, I made you smile or laugh, or perhaps I offered a “fun place for you to go” in your mind. I want you to know  it works both ways, because you definitely have that effect on me.

I’ve worked with James Marsters before. He is one of the most focused actors I know.

He is absolutely 100 per cent dedicated to the role.

I came into Angel I guess I knew I was lucky, but I didn’t realize at the time how lucky! I’m sorting making up time now,

They Said...

He looked right over at us, and made the cutest, most genuine smile I have ever seen and topped it off with a little wave. Now I have to say, that to this day, when I think of Andy, that is the image that I see in my head. It can never be damaged or replaced.

"In short, he was the person in real life that you hope your favourite actors will be. I still think the world is worse off without him. When you think of some of the vile people still in the world, it just rubs salt in the wounds that we lost someone so very special.

Andy was a great friend of mine. We went all over Europe together. He was a good friend and a really good guy…It's hard for me to talk about, I get really choked up... He was such a great guy and I really hate that he passed.

I miss my friend desperetaley, but I take solace in the fact that I know, at this very moment, he's singing somewhere

I only hire incredible talented people with no experience, so I don't have to do a lot of work. Believe m. I've hired a lot of people with a ton of experience who couldn't walk through the door. I've been lucky

(...)How much I miss him and what a just spectacular person he was, what a rare and unique find. So I love you, Andy, and I miss you.

It was that distinctive voice from Angel that had a certain warmth and melody in it, even when he wasn’t singing. Andy signed a photo of Lorne for me and we wished each other well. I doubt I made much of an impression on Andy beyond one of the many hundreds of people lined up to meet him that day, but Andy made an impression on me. It was obvious that Lorne and Andy were one of the same. When I meet many celebrities I find that they are not at all like their characters, but although his skin wasn’t green and he had no horns, meeting Andy was like meeting Lorne himself

Andy is one of the greatest guest if you can get him to the place on time and even if he is a day late he makes it worth the wait. Then afterwords if he can, he will sit down in the bar or open area and just hold court for hours. However, if he says he'll be right back, best thing to do is call it a night cause he can get distracted easily and forget to come back. 🙂
